A new spirit was born this month: Esperanza aka Old Bones or She Who Greets You Behind the Veil. Her gentle face has been gazing at me all winter long, waiting for a body. A clear image of her hair manifested in the deep of winter--it had to stick straight out from her head--lots of virgin wool was called for. After finishing her hair, though, there she sat waiting patiently, day after day, month after month.
After much despair and accompanying the spring sunshine, I finally heard her call and she flew into being. As in songwriting, on a lucky day, her birth was fast and furious as, relatively speaking, she didn't take weeks to finish but only about a week and a half.
It felt great getting back in the saddle, routing her driftwood body to fit her driftwood arms, dust flying everywhere with the knowledge that another spirit was ready to enter the world. Her name Esperanza is derived from the Spanish verb, 'sperare' "to hope". For those of you believers, death is a respite from a long and fruitful life. After a short stay in 'ku' or non-existence, our next existence brings new hope for another wonderful life, filled with creating value and hope for our fellow humans. | Esperanza is your guide when you've crossed the threshold of this earthly plane. She welcomes you with open arms, ready to fly you through the ether to your next existence. In her hand, an udumbara blossom, it's pearly pink petals gently floating behind her to create a beautiful fragrant path for you to follow. Her headdress features vintage buttons and vintage silk, matching her shrug. Her cape is made from a sparkling gold luxury vintage fabric. Her driftwood base looks and feels just like an old bone, hence, 'old bones'. Is she calling to you? I hope so...Happiest Spring! |
